      Mr. Douglas Reynolds, Sr., age 93, of 2011 Kentuck Road, Danville, Va., died on Friday, March 4, 2016, at Roman Eagle Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.He was born on September 14, 1922, in Pittsylvania County, to the late Ford Cephus Reynolds and Nannie Blanch Hammock Reynolds.Mr. Reynolds worked as a Carpenter for John Daniels Construction and was of the Baptist faith. He spent most of his life in Danville, VA and served in the United States Army during World War II.Mr. Reynolds is survived by two daughters, Nannie Katherine Sykes of Ashville, Ohio, and Dorothy Reynolds McDowell of Archdale, N.C.; stepdaughter, Lillie Lakey of Danville, Va.; stepson, James Meeks of Portsmouth, Va.; twenty-six grandchildren; forty-six great-grandchildren; forty-two great-great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.In addition to his parents, Mr. Reynolds was predeceased by his former wife, Mary Berkshire Reynolds and his wife, Loriane Myers Reynolds; son, Douglas Reynolds, Jr.; brothers, Dewey Reynolds, Darrell Reynolds, Alaska Reynolds, William Shirley Reynolds; sisters, Alvie Holt, Nannie Dixon, Maude Trent, Lonnie Fox; one great-grandchild; step-daughter, Alice Clifton; and great-grandson, Chuck Clifton. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post 1097 and the United States Army.

      PORTSMOUTH - Lorine Coble Meeks Reynolds, 89, of the 3000 block of River Edge Drive, passed away Monday, June 7, 2010. Born June 25, 1920 in Concord, N.C., she was preceded in death by her parents, William and Julia Coble and a son, Warren G. Meeks Jr. Lorine retired after 20 years of service with the Dan River Cotton Mill. She is survived by two daughters, Alice Cliffton and Lilly Lakley and husband Phillip; a son, James E. Meeks and wife Doris; a sister, Artice Harris; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; a host of other family and friends. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, in Highland Burial Park in Danville, Va. by the Pastor Estella Falden. The family will receive friends at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and also from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at 723 Kemper Road, Danville, VA 24541.
