  • Notes
    • James Andrew Jackson brought suit against Samuel Jackson, his brother, to force the sale of his land on 18 Oct 1847. The court ordered John Bryant to sell the land and divide the proceeds. (Pitts Order Book 39, page 313). Sanuel C. Jackson countersued, which places him in the county in 1847. John J. Bryant arranged to sell the land but the sale was suspended in Dec 1850 because of the suit. This suit went to Chancery Court when James A. Mitchell objected. (James owed money to Mitchell and wanted to pay him out of the proceeds from the sale of the land). The defendants included William Grant and Sally (Emmerson) his wife and Allen (Gilmer) Reynolds and Martha (Emmerson) his wife.
