Scott Families of Caroline Co., and Lynchburg, VA Unknown Message Board: William F. Scott had a farm located near what is now Meherrin, Virginia. He had children with Betsy Lyle, who was the d/o white mother and an enslaved black man. Betsy Lyle lived and worked on the farm of William F. Scott between the mid to late 1840's until his probable death in the late 1860's. He is presumed to have died sometime around 1867 based on both age of Betsy Lyle's youngest daughter, Maria F.
