Breckenridge Family
Robert Breckenridge Robert was a justice of Augusta and Sheriff in 1753 and was one of the first justices and lieutenant colonel of militia. Robert was in active service on the frontier 1759-61. In 1779 his heirs received bounty land for his services in 1756 commanding a company attached to the 1st VA Regiment, and also under Col. Andrew Lewis against the Shawneaw. He married 1st Mary, d/o Robert Poague, of Augusta and 2nd, Lettice, d/o John Preston Robert died in Botetourt in 1772.

EARLY SETTLERS OF AUGUSTA COUNTY, VIRGNIA
Robert Poage (Beverley Manor NE, 772 acres, 1739), (b. 1700, prob. Ireland, d. 1774, Augusta County, VA), who married Elizabeth Preston, daughter of Archibald Preston. in Ireland. Robert had a large family that intermarried with many early families in Augusta County.
