Obediah and his family lived at his farm in Axton, Va. called "Graystone". He laid the large gray stone step outside the door. He grew tobacco.

O. M. Allen, 86, a Veteran of the Civil War, one of the oldest and best known citizens in Martinsville, Va., died at this home on Church Street Tuesday afternoon.
Funeral services will be conducted this afternoon by Rev. J. P. McCabe.
Interment will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
Born June 6th, 1840, near Mount Vernon in Henry County, Mr. Allen lived in that community for sometime and was first married to Miss Eliza Martin who preceded him to the grave 15 years ago.
In 1914, he was married to Mrs. Molly Williamson.
In the year 1888 he came to Martinsville and engaged in the tobacco business in which he continued until three years ago when he became unable to continue.
Mr. Allen volunteered in the first company to leave Henry County with Captain Reamey and after serving throughout the War, returned to Henry County.
He was made Commander of the Stuart-Hairston Camp of Confederate Veterans of Henry County,Va., and took active part in the work until his death.
Surviving Mr. Allen are his widow and seven children, all of the first marriage.
These included five daughters, Mesdames J. H. Stultz, J. T. Hairfield, Jas. E. Bondurant, J. B. Jones and G. E. Bondurant; and two sons, Jones R. and P. L. Allen.
Also several brothers and sisters.
