Elizabeth Marshall?s will, made in Culpepper 17 April, prob. 17 May, 1779, names her chn. (pg. 47) and wills William McC. land there:
A3 Bk. K, 5 Oct 1779: In the 4th year of the Commonwealth, year of Our Lord Christ, this indenture between William Marshall and wife of Culpepper Co., on the one part, and William McClanahan and wife, of Culpepper County on the other part. Witnesseth that the said Marshall and wife for an in consideration of L 500 Current money of VA, in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do Grand, Bargain and Sell unto the said William McClanahan, his heirs and assignees forever, one piece of parcel of land bought of Thomas Corbin containing 150 acres, more or less, as may be seen in the said Corbin?s deed to the said Marshall in the office of the said County; beginning at a line of Edmond Basye on the east side of a branch at a Spanish red and white oak running south 58 (5) degrees with the said Stallard?s line no. 40 degrees, east 218 poles to a large white oak on Indian Run, corner to Walter Stallard?s line, thence with the said Stallard?s line north 50 degrees, west 105 poles to two red and white oaks on the west side of a branch, thence south 55 degrees, west 56 poles to a white oak and one pine, thence so. 30 degrees, west 140 poles to a white oak and one pine, thence south 30 degrees, west 140 poles to one white oak and thence in a straight line to the beginning, including 150 acres with all profits, houses, orchards, meadows, fences, water courses and emoluments to the same belonging or in anywise appertaining and the revision and revisions, remainder and remainders thereof and every part and parcel thereof. To have and to hold the said premises, etc., unto the said William McClanahan and heirs.
