      Valentine 'Vane' Martin was the son of John & Elizabeth (Boatright) Martin & the grandson of Orson Sr. and Ann (Forsee) Martin. He married Serena Yancey on October 24, 1825 in Cumberland County, Virginia.

      Valentine and Elizabeth's children were: (1) Frank Martin, (2) Elizabeth Martin marr Balaam Warren, (3) Brice Edward Martin marr Marietta Reynolds and died a POW, (4) Virginia Martin marr Thomas D. Yeatts, (5) Catherine Ann Martin marr Samuel Britton Dunn, (6) Oregon Martin died at 2nd Manassas in Virginia, (7) Cassandra Harrison Martin marr Joseph Taylor Martin, and (8) John W. Martin married Eliza Ann Dickinson.
