      The monument at Antique Village, Escanaba, Michigan for Cary Lafayette Carter. Veteran of War of 1812. Cary L Carter Sr: Born 1789 in Fredericksville, Albermarle County, Virginia. Died:24 OCT 1876 in Henry County, Virginia July 13, 2013 article Cary L Carter to be honored Sat. July 13, 2013 at 6 PM at Escanaba, Michigan's Fairgrounds.: Corporal Cary Lafayette Carter b. 1789 will be honored by our City of Escanaba as a first land owner of our Upper Peninsula State Fairgrounds. The ceremony will honor the two veterans of the War of 1812 who received bounty land warrants as rewards for their volunteer service from their state militias. Carter marched 130 miles to join his company and was also stationed on Craney Island, where a key battle took place. Interested descendants may contact our committee for more details.
