      Edward C. Sheaffer, 62, of 348 Maple Avenue, died at his home at 9:15 a.m. Friday, May 23, 1969 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Violet Mary (Miller) Sheaffer who survives. Born in Lancaster, Sept. 30, 1906, he was the son of Amos Diller and Anna (Myers) Sheaffer. A lifetime resident of Lancaster, he had been employed as a dock worker for Norwalk Truck Lines for the past five years. Before that, he drove truck for Ready Mix Concrete. He was in the Army and served in World War II. Surviving, besides his wife are four sons, Gilbert A. (Bernadine) Sheaffer, Charles E. (Ruth) Sheaffer, and Gordon L. (Donna) Sheaffer all of Lancaster, and Sgt. Thomas E. Sheaffer stationed with the US Air Force in Vietnam; a daughter Leah (Hoyt E.) Roark Lancaster; eight grandchildren; Joyce A., Charles E.,June L., Gilbert, Jr., Michael, Donna, Michelle Y, Sheaffer, Hoyt E. (Butch) Roark; and four sisters, Nelda (Richard V.) Groff, Peach Bottom, Gladys (John) Westheaffer, Margaret (Samuel) Brenneman, and Geraldine (Glenn) Miller all of Lancaster. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children Ronald and Rose Marie Sheaffer. Funeral services were held at Fred Groff's Funeral Home and burial followed in Millersville Mennonite Cemetery. Lancaster New Era 5/24/1969
