- Locations where these related Nealeys are found suggest these families traveled the 'Great Wagon Road' from Pennsylvania south where they are later found in Augusta Co., VA then Roanoke and Pittsylvania Counties and south to Iredell and Statesville, N. Carolina. Nealey & McClanahans intermarry several times.

Proximity Evidence suggests this entry in Chronicles of the Scotch Irish for Mar April 1754, may reference William Neale(y) of Pittsylvania Co., VA He was known to be in Lancaster Co., PA in 1756. (marriage record for daughter, Mary to Hugh Reynolds. He is also found on a Lancaster Co., PA tax record for Martock, along with Wm. Devin and Wm. Neeley and Hugh Reynolds.
