      Mrs. Elsie Evelyn Smith Wells, 77, of Route 2, Dry Fork, VA went to be with her Lord at her residence. She was born in the Dry Fork Community, a daughter of the late William Henry Smith and Avery Haymore Smith. She had lived her entire life in Pittsylvania County, VA. She was employed by Dan River Mills in Danville, VA in the Number 4 Grey Inspection Department until her retirement. She was a member of Dan River Retirement Club. She was also a member of Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church where she taught Sunday School for ten years. She was married to the late Joel Estes Wells. Survivors are two sons William W Wells and Garland A Wells, Sr, both of Dry Fork, two daughters Emma Lea Wells of the residence and Mattie Wells Jones of Dry Fork. Two brothers survive, Lynn L Smith and Ryland B Smith, both of Mount Hermon, VA and sisters Nancy Dawson and Ruby Samuel, both of Mount Hermon, seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at Emmanuel Pentecostal Holiness Church with Reverend Cecil Coates, Reverend Harvey Johnson, Reverend William H Preskitt, Reverend Ira
